A new apartment in a building that underwent a long and complex Tama 38 renovation.
A lovely young couple with two small children, who returned to Israel after 10 years in Amsterdam, asked us to design and create a home that would be pleasant, comfortable, and perfectly suited to their needs. We came up with the ideal layout for them—eliminating an unnecessary guest bathroom at the entrance and converting it into a huge double-sided storage unit that fits large suitcases on one side, and serves as a utility closet (for tools and cleaning supplies) on the other. We also created an entryway closet and a prep area for both adults and kids.
We designed a wide, spacious kitchen with a large work surface, including on the island. We also added a dining nook table that’s more comfortable for the kids.
The small room was turned into a shared bedroom for the children, and the larger one became a playroom. A hidden carpentry door leads to the home office in the secure room (Mamad). A large mirror hides the electrical cabinet behind it. We planned lots of custom carpentry—an enormous library for books, records, and CDs (including a special niche for their beloved turntable), large wardrobes in the bedrooms, and plenty more storage.
And the best part—when clients become friends who are also neighbors, and you can drop by for a perfect morning coffee :)
